The
Town provides water and sewer service where available. New hookups will
require a water and/or sewer tap-on fee. Requests for service should be
made at Town Hall located at 109-A North Main Street.

Renters Water Service
Deposit
|
|
There is a $120.00
deposit for water service. Payment of deposit must be
received in Town Hall before service is initiated. This
deposit is refundable less any balance owed when renter
request disconnect of service. |
Water and/or Sewer
Bills
|
|
Bills are generally
mailed the last day of the month. They are payable at
the Town Clerk’s office by the 10th of the
month. Should the bill not be paid by the 15th
of the month, a penalty of 5% is added. Consumption is
billed in units of 1000 gallons. Payments may be made
to Town Hall or mailed to:

Cut-Offs
|
|
When
an account is 60 days old, water service will be disconnected. The entire
balance will be collected as well as a reconnect fee of $40.00 to restore
service during regular business hours. (After hours reconnect fee is
$125.00) A fee of $200.00 will be charged for meter tampering should the
customer turn their water back on. |
After Hours Water/Sewer
Emergencies
|

For an after-hours or
weekend water or sewer emergency, please contact pager
number (704) 888-9284. You may also call Stanly County
Communications at (704) 986-3700 and they will make
contact with the appropriate personnel. Examples of
after hours emergencies include water main breaks or
sewer backups. |

Fees

Tap fees differ
depending on inside Town limits or outside Town limits. Any taps larger
then ¾” must be negotiated for increased material cost. |

The Town of Oakboro
contracts with Waste Management of the Carolinas for
weekly residential curbside garbage disposal. Pick-up
is on Thursday’s beginning at 6:00 am. Residents
should place the carts by the curb on Wednesday
evenings. To acquire a new cart or inquire about other
garbage issues please contact Town Hall at (704)
485-3351. |
Leaf Pick-up
|
|
Leaf
pick-ups are held once a year generally in the month of November. Dates
will be advertised in The Stanly News and Press, The Weekly Post and this
website. Although this process will take several days please have your
leaves by the curb on the first day of pick-up. Do not bag leaves or mix
limbs or any other debris with the leaves. |
Spring Clean-up

Spring clean-up is
generally held in May or June and will be advertised
in The Stanly News and Press, The Weekly Post and on
this website. Chemicals, hazardous wastes,
tires, batteries, and construction debris will NOT
be accepted. Listed below are examples of items
that will be collected:
- Large Appliances – stoves, refrigerators, freezers, hot water heaters.
- Metal – bicycles, bed springs, swing sets
- Tree Limbs – maximum 6’ length and 6” in diameter, bagged yard waste and leaves
- Furniture – sofas, chairs, tables and air conditioners
