Waste Water Treatment Plant
Waste Water Performance Report 2007 |
|
The Town of Oakboro operates its own Regional Wastewater
Treatment Plant (WWTP) located 2.5 miles outside of Town limits on Barbee’s Grove Road. It is an activated sludge process plant with a permitted flow of 900,000 gallons per day. The WWTP accepts and treats a waste stream from three wastewater collection systems: Oakboro, Locust and Stanfield. |
|
 |
The WWTP monitors for 16 permitted characteristics whereas 7 of these are conducted in house at our State Certified Laboratory. These parameters include Flow, Dissolved Oxygen, Temperature, Fecal Coliform, Ammonia, and pH just to name a few. A full list may be obtained from the NCDENR Mooresville Regional Office. |
| The treated wastewater is discharged into Rocky River.
The by-product of the treatment process, also known as bios lids,” is handled and stored on-site, removed and land applied, utilizing its high concentrations of Nitrogen and Phosphorus as a fertilizing agent. |
|
For the year 2001, this facility handled and treated 66
million gallons of wastewater, and land applied 247,000 gallons of bios lids over 35.6 acres. The Operator in Charge (ORC) of the Wastewater Treatment Plant is
Eric Curlee. Baxter Jordan is the ORC of the wastewater collection system. |
