Located in the
Western area of Stanly County, we are in close proximity
to Charlotte, Monroe and Concord which makes our town
the greatest place to live. We are close to great
opportunities for activities, whether it be: a day at
the lake such as Badin or Tillery Lakes; a hike through
the 53,000 acres of the Uhwarries; or panning for your
own gold at the Reed Gold Mine.
However, you don’t
have to go far to do a lot either! In town you can spend
a day in one of the town’s two parks, stroll Main St.
full of Classic Cars during a monthly Cruise-in or take
in some history at the Regional or Railroad museums. We
are also blessed to send our kids to the award winning
schools of Oakboro Elementary and West Stanly High
School and to the newly opened West Stanly Middle
School.
Oakboro is a
business friendly town that still keeps the small town
warmth and charm. We offer water and sewer as well as
garbage and recycling to Town residents and operate the
only Waste Water Treatment Plant in western Stanly
county offering sewer to many residents throughout the
